LEADER AS MENTOR
(Accredited Online Mentoring Training Program)
by
RK Academy

“Leader as Mentor” is a leadership development program based on an EMCC Global accredited mentoring training program enhanced with the leadership concepts covered in “The Contemporary Leader: The Value of Inclusion in Successful Leadership”.

Contemporary Leadership approach requires leaders to draw strength and unity from diversity, bring individuals and organizations together around common goals, enhance decision-making with mental clarity, ask functional and meaningful questions instead of always providing answers, actively listen, appeal to emotions, and add meaning to both the organization and the lives of the individuals they influence.

“IN DEVELOPMENTAL MENTORING, THERE IS NO ADVISING OR INSTRUCTING. IT’S A NON-JUDGEMENTAL DIALOGUE WITH TRUST, RESPECT, AND MUTUAL LEARNING BASED ON SHARING CONTEXTUAL WISDOM. UNFORTUNATELY, IF A MENTOR GETS ATTACHED TO HIS HIS ADVISE, IT DOES NOT SERVE US AT ALL IN TERMS OF MENTEE DEVELOPMENT. ISN’T IT THE SAME IN COMMUNICATION WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THEIR TEENAGE YEARS? WHY MENTORING in a CORPORATE SETTING?

When you look back, you may identify some people having a remarkable impact your professional and personal life. You may also notice what was in common in your relationship with all these people. Going forward, wouldn’t it be nice to get inspiration from such people in your life, and similarly, to inspire others, new generations, your team members and community in a much more effective and structured way?
Developmental Mentoring, as a mutual learning approach, enables that in the most effective manner.

As defined by EMCC Global:
“Mentoring is a learning relationship, involving the sharing of skills, knowledge, and expertise between a mentor and mentee through developmental conversations, experience sharing, and role modelling. The relationship may cover a wide variety of contexts and is an inclusive two-way partnership for mutual learning that values differences.”
A properly designed mentoring program accelerates the development of its stakeholders. For that purpose EMCC Global has developed certain standards (ISMCP) as a benchmark to ensure the effectiveness of mentoring programs.

As detailed by EMCC Global:
“Following the framework within the ISMCP (International Standards for Mentoring and Coaching Programmes) accreditation adds both substance and credibility to programmes, and bolsters internal business cases for employee development. The framework ensures programmes are designed to align with participant and business objectives, under the professional umbrella of the EMCC Global standards and Global Code of Ethics.

ISMCP is an independent accreditation awarded to organisations designing, delivering and evaluating mentoring and/or coaching programmes either ‘in-house’ or externally. It is an integral and essential step on the path to establishing the professional credibility and status of good mentoring and/or coaching programme management, ensuring programmes are thoughtfully designed, systematically managed and significantly contributing to the development of participants, strategic drivers of the organisation and wider stakeholder objectives”

In that respect this course not only equip mentors and mentees with all necessary competences and but also ensures that our participants learn about the best benchmarking tool to design, evaluate and execute mentoring programs.
Workplace mentoring is a powerful tool for developing talent, fostering collaboration, and driving organizational growth. Yet, many mentoring programs fail to deliver real impact—not because of a lack of good intentions, but because mentors and mentees often lack the skills to make these relationships truly effective. It may come in various forms, not only the traditional senior / junior relationship, but also in the forms of “reverse mentoring” and “peer mentoring”.
Leader as Mentor is a practical training program designed to equip leaders with the knowledge, tools, and techniques to mentor effectively. Whether you’re launching a new mentoring initiative or strengthening an existing one, this program provides a structured approach to building impactful and sustainable mentoring relationships.
